Comparative evaluation of YOLOv8, Faster R-CNN, and SSD for automated rice leaf disease detection on a dataset of 8,040 annotated images from Vietnamese rice paddies. YOLOv8 achieves mAP@50-95 of 0.732 at 1,873 FPS, outperforming all baselines on both accuracy and inference speed.
